Ladies Circle is an organisation for women aged between 18 and 45. Our motto is “Friendship and Service” - this is a mix of social activities and fundraising events usually for local charities. The focus is very much on the fun and friendship aspect with some fundraising along the way. We organise meals out, socials in our own houses, our annual weekend away and charity functions. We also socialise on an area level - Elland Ladies Circle is part of Ladies Circle Area 3, which basically covers the Yorkshire region.
Elland Ladies Circle was founded in 1962 and currently has a membership of 14. We meet on the second Monday of each month for a business meeting with other social and fundraising events in between.
We have a lot of fun raising money for local charities. Recent events have included
a Hollywood themed ball, a jewellery party, a Bollywood night, a belly dancing evening
and a fashion show. Our annual Christmas party is always a fantastic fundraiser and
you will find us every bonfire night selling parkin and hot drinks to thousands of
people at the local charity bonfire/firework display.
The charities we have supported
in the last few years have been the Special Care Baby Unit and the Renal Unit of
the Calderdale Royal Hospital and the Brian Jackson Trust in Huddersfied.
